Frigate Spam, Combat needs improvement.

I have mentioned this in the gameplay feedback but I think it deserves it's own post.

It seems that the main thing anyone needs to do to win any game at any difficulty level at this point in time is to create a ton of frigates and constantly attack the other players. Eventually add in a capital ship and a few siege frigates and boom! the galaxy is all yours.

There need to be better deffense options, there need to be ships that can take on 3 light frigates and win without said ship being a capital ship. The player should have to think out the composition of his fleets, not just spam light frigates.

Overall I am very impressed with Beta 2, and with 221 more days to go I know many things will be tweeked/changed/added. Combat needs to be a priority though.

I agree that a player very rarely has to consider anything beyond spamming light frigs (myself included) very rarely with a chance to use another ship (cough, LRMS) and usually the only reason to do that is to not waste anything on buying new cobalts. thats not to say the game is as simple as streaming cobalts into enemy territory, but it certainly isnt as complex as it should be.

good, because I can currently kick two hard Ai's asses easily, i currently control half or more of the map and they haven't even gotten close to disabling any of my planet's defenses, let alone destroying the planet itself.
