strategic view?

I know I have seen it...i know i have clicked on it, and been in that view....but i cannot find the strategic view for the main map....am i imagining things when i think i have seen it? I have looked through the the entire manual, and simply cannot find it...

That is right now the only complaint with the game i have...I simply cannot see all of the map, or very much of the map, on the main map screen....

Also, is there an easy way to see exactly where the current selected planet (on the individual planet screen) is located in the galaxy?

So far, that is the only two things i am having any complaints about...the game is VERY good...

Bring up the planet list. The tactical map is an option at the top.

Use F9 key to bring up (and close down) the Tactical Map (which is what you want, I'm pretty sure) from anywhere. I mainly use this for when I've just built something on a planet and I want to know where that planet is located as I try to decide what to build next (In hostile territory...build more defense. In danger of being culturally overrun....building more morale, cultural resistance, and star influence...etc).

One thing to note is that if you're on the Planet screen like this and bring up the Tactical Map....if you push F9 again to close down that map, it does not take you back to the Planet screen....instead it takes you back to the main galaxy view wherever you last had that focused. So, what I do is bring up the Tactical Map and then when I'm done with it I click on the planet that I was just looking at (the Planets list will still be up on the right side of the screen) and that brings that Planet screen back up.
