invaded my first planet....

simple, yet very effective....Especially with all the different "tactics"....FINALLY, a pc game that protrays NBC warfare correctly!!!
I am getting close to taking EVERYTHING else off my pc, and just playing GalCiv....the political parties (I was actually cut off from declaring war against the Yor....)...to Planetary Invasions (probably my favorite part of the game so far, next to the Empire Senate)...
I have never seen an AI do anything like this before:
The Altarians attack me ,after I tried a few unsuccessful war attempts at the Yor. (I have a question about this though: The Altarians won a war vs. the Yor, forced them to pay tribute i gathered from the GNN report...Did they attack me cause i was trying to hit their "pupput power"? Or was it just a coincidence?) Anyways...The Torrians (sp?) message me and say that since they are allies with the Altarians, they have to declare war on me. (another question: how do you get an empire to be an ally? I gave Arceans "alliance" tech, but it still doesn't show up to form an alliance...we have a "warm" relationship).
I tried to get the Arceans to attack the Altarians...but they kept refusing...a few turns later, though, and the Arceans give me 3 or 4 Corvettes....Well, this little war drags on....they hit my trade freighters (not sure how to really protect them), they take out a ship or two...but nothing serious. Not long after the war started, One of my planets finds a PreCurser ship, Ranger class...big ole ship. So, i form up a fleet (not sure really how fleets work either....shouldn't they get a bonus or something?).
I then head to the nearest Altarian system...with a 5 transports of troops (500 mil. troops each)...i take out the little defense they have, then finally, i invade...I am given different choices for the attack (BRILLIANT!!!! Now I can GAS ATTACK!!!!! NOTE: I was 54B -NBC Chemical Ops in the Army). Well, didn't quite have the money for that though (:(
I choose Core Explosion (i think that is the right one)....I win...lose about 300 million troops, the enemy loses 4.2 billion ppl or something like that...I take the planets...even though the attack dropped each planet (2 planets in that system) 15% habitability....
I try for peace, and really, to my surprise, both the Torrians and the Altarians both accept....I have never played a pc game where the ai accepts peace....hmmmm.....
All in all....really loving this game....
