"How to" request for Xion

The ripple effect

I was thinking* about butchering a Xion skin again.

I thought wouldn't it be neat to have a "watery" skin with a VU meter that had a ripple effect like in the T-Rex scene in Jurassic Park.

Something like this:

If anyone knows of a tutorial to assist, I'd appreciate the help. I'm a cheap bastard** and am using GIMP and Paint.net if that helps. I could probably translate it (poorly) from some other app.

Thanks!

* I'll post back when I fail miserably
** I'm not really a bastard, I just wished I was as a youth. [You'd have to know my father or maybe have *had* a father as a teen.] I am, however, miserly.

If you can create an image similar to the one you have above, you could achieve the ripple effect just by resizing it. (Starting small and getting bigger).
I'm assuming you are talking about an animated skin?

That's not my image . . it's just a reference.

Thanks for the tip . .time to start picking apart a skin with an obvious thumper.
