Hi, new here, and I must say, the complete lack of negativity on these forums is great. To think the game isn't coming out for months and people only have good things to say about the beta is reassuring. My favorite genre has always been 4x space games and I have been really sadden lately by the lack of games coming out that innovate in the field. More than just that, the latest games can't even seem to get right what its predecessors accomplished. I followed the MOO3 train from when it left the station to its explosive crash. Ever since then, I never let myself get wrapped up in a game so far before launch. The only game I have played recently that was worth while is Sword of the Stars. It is too simplistic though and impossible to control during its real time combat for my taste, but its pretty. Lately, it seems the 4X games coming out never manage to get everything right, only one or two things like nice graphics, but silly empire management, or highly detailed empire managemnt, but lack luster combat (I am looking at you galciv2, sorry).

I am tempted to jump on the beta bandwagon. Is it worth it? Be there any nay sayers amongst thee?

Oh, you just didn't look hard enough.

For example, the current AI is still useless.

The game is more of a RTS then a true 4X game at the moment.

Oh, and the worst of all, they didn't gave us the other two races to play in the last patch!

Is it worth it? Well, I can't promise that the game will be perfect when it's finished and it still needs a lot to be fun over a longer time like the other two races, Ironclad, are you listening?, the interface is still a bit clumsy, etc. but even with all that, it's fun even now, when it's not supposed to be fun.

So yeah, try it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Think of it this way: Its a chance to convince the devs to do things your way, and get it right for a change!
