'Shadowrun' Developer Officially Closed

FASA Studios Signs-off, ~1/2 The Staff Stays With Microsoft

FASA Studios, the developers behind Microsoft Games Studios' mildly received Vista-only and Xbox 360 title Shadowrun, have officially closed their doors according to a forum post on the Shadowrun forums. Yesterday marked the last day of employment for employees who didn't transfer to another location inside MGS.

The FASA team which stayed behind after learning about their studio's demise went on to create three separate patches for Shadowrun simply because it's "a game we love." Mitch Gitleman continued on stating that about half of the FASA employees had moved to other MGS positions or somewhere else inside Microsoft. Gitleman also stated that FASA will be keeping the Community Manager and Technical Support Manager on the payroll for continued support of their games.

Gitleman and FASA's sign-off: "But now, as the last of us say our goodbyes to each other, I’m saying goodbye to you on behalf of a group of talented and dedicated professionals who busted their humps for the love of the game. I am proud to have worked with and represented them to you and know that wherever they go, they will continue to kick ass."

And so another Microsoft purchase from years back is eliminated.  I'm sure that'll be written up as a loss on the balance sheet.

Loved their MechWarrior titles though, so its not like they sucked or something.
