'Auto Assault' Devs Delivering Free FPS
'Warmonger' A Free Download Starting October 16
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=83600Just 19 days after closing their original MMO Auto Assault developer NetDevil has announced Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction. The title was announced earlier this year as a proof of concept game but will be downloadable for free starting October 16.
Warmonger is set in a post apocalyptic world with the entire environment powered by Ageia PhysX and Unreal Engine 3. The combination of technologies has allowed NetDevil to build in some serious environmental damage technology allowing players to not only destroy their surroundings, but to also use them as part of their arsenal.
"First person shooter environments have remained largely static for years. Ageia PhysX has changed all that, and changed it profoundly," said Scott Brown, president of NetDevil.
"New rigid body technology and procedural destruction of game environments set the stage for dynamic content creation that will literally transform the way people think and play."
The FPS will feature you common assortment of weapons including rockets, assault rifles with grenade launchers and even a mountable mini-gun. The fragging is to take place in some common locations as well, from shopping center to subway station all the way to an old underground staging area.
