My friend, that baby is going to change your life in more ways than the obvious. The family politics really get going once children enter the picture. Everyone thinks they have rights that you may feel they don't. It is their grandchild, niece, nephew, etc, but you are the parent. Just be up front about how you feel. Try not to let anyone dampen the joy that being a parent brings. How exciting! As soon as she goes into labor, the whole shower issue won't mean a thing.
