Plundered Booty

Plundered Booooty, yea that's what I'm talking about. 3.5 coins per second, making the pirate world second only to my home world for revenue!

Thanks, that's a big improvement, makes the hunters the hunted. Turns a frown upside down.

Nice... Will have to try that.

Yeah, but when it converts to your side, the pirates immediately bomb it into oblivion. But you DO get the 3.5 for about 2 minutes, tho, depending on how many bombers they have handy.

Can't get there in time to do anything, the amount of warning you get when you see the flashing corona isn't enough to put together a task force and gallop to the rescue, since it's in the star's gravity well and travel times are a lot longer through there. Of course, I could reload the last save since I know what's going to happen and pre-position forces. I was trying the culture attack out as an experiment and wasn't really ready for the pirate asteroid to come over to my side. I did win that game by culture, it was very strange to win with only 3 cap ships and NO other ships. The luck of the draw was I was able to sneak into a choke point planet that had an armaments test range (?) with 45 tactical points, I was able to buy off the pirates for a while while I built up that planet (14 squads + 10 gauss cannon), then I had just one other asteroid that linked to the star where I put 8 squads and my caps (1 Kol to start, then 1 more Kol then last a Karza), let them ramp up the experience points (had them all at 10 by the end)eradicating the pirates and while I was doing that I put 3 broadcasters at the choke point planet and let my obviously superior culture run it's course.

Holy moly!

You just need to explore for pirate booty.

Didn't have to explore the pirates asteroid, when I took it over by culture it was part of the base. I think that it is always the case with the pirate asteroid. Haven't run across any other planet with booty, but haven't had a chance to play that many games. Still experimenting. Probably be 'experimenting' 'till Feb.

Ron, I was surprised at the max tac points, although you are penalized by 60 max pop and slow growth. I only had 0.1 tax from it the whole game. Didn't contribute much except it makes a VERY good death trap so I could focus elsewhere.

For a chokepoint system, thats more than an acceptable trade off.

I think I have seen the pirate base thing before on other planets. I dont think it was named that though.

If you took over the pirate base though, there shouldn't be any more attacks, AFAIK.

There are a few specials that generate extra income.

Oh, I know I could invade the pirate asteroid. What I've been experimenting with is taking over by culture, so my ship counts have normally been less than 10 (2-3 caps, tho) so grabing the base in time wasn't a viable option. Besides, pirate attacks are a really good way to level up cap ships, so I don't want to get rid of them too early.
