Mini freighters and Starbases

Hi!
Perhaps it is a repost (for sure it is...) but, I spend more than 1 our too find an answer for one question... and could not find final answer :-)

Does starbase with trade modules on it give me a profit only from my OWN mini-freighters, or also from "foreign" mini freighters passing thru?

From all the freighters that are in the route, except if you are at war with that particular race. But all the freighters will use your starbase as a pit stop and will bring you benefits.

I believe that if you own either the home or destination star system in the trade route that you get the bonus from the trade bonus modules in your starbases.  If the correct UP law gets passed, your allies freighters passing through the same sectors will also get the bonuses.  That UP law can be very useful. :)

To run some test experiments, there's a customized save-game in the library/misc. section, titled: "Freighter trade routes test game"

You start with four worlds above four trading partner worlds, $10k in cash, and a freighter on each planet.

It's a good way to test theories :D

It has not been approved and will not be.  Save games should not be submitted to the library as they contain your serial number.

What a bad design decision! >:(

Have you played Command&Conquer:Generals? Saved movies are half the fun! Same thing with StarfleetCommand.

Saved games are the "documents" we write during play.

Ok, resubmitted as a map instead of a savegame :notsure:

In case they don't post the scenario/map file, it's downloadable from my site at:

It's not a bad design because it keeps people from easily passing around save games to be resubmitted by other people.

Is there a way to tell how much money a given starbase will make next turn?

When you click on a freighter and your VP tells you the cash it will bring in that turn, does that value include starbase trade enhancements?

Resubmitting save-games is a bad thing; that is a way for poor players to pretend their reputation is more valuable than their performace. That psychology should be put in it's place, as it is a lie. Not worth having.

Passing around save-games is a good thing. It's the gamer-equivalent of home movies, and it gives the game audience participation, something to trade, mementos, showing off, training vids, etc. Worth having.

One possible way to have the best of both of these worlds would be to use an idea borrowed from the realm of cryptography: Hash the player's login name (email address, whatever) with their serial number. Then only the correct login may claim credit, but the file may be freely shared, because without that login the serial number is hopelessly unreadable. :D

Another alternative would be to store the alias name of the person to be credited in the file, instead of the serial number. Then credit would only apply if the login matched the alias name in the file.

No.

I believe so.
