The Peek -a- Boo, See Through Frog

(In case you haven't heard)

I just read an article this morning that Japanese scientists have created the world's first see-through, four legged creature: a transparent frog.

The reasoning behind it? So that organs, blood vessels, etc., can be seen without the need for dissection. Hmmm...where was this frog when I was in my 7th Grade Life Sciences class (and is a see through guinea pig in the works as well)? What an amazing, yet weird, creation.

I read that the other day. Pretty cool, except their offspring can't produce viable offspring...i.e. grandchildren. The tadpoles die because they're riddled with recessive genes. This is only possible because amphibian skin is very thin and has different properties than mammal or bird skin...so no transparent parakeets or hamsters for us.

Well, so much for the transparent guinea pig.
