She moved out...

and sometimes it's hard being mommy

Well, she has moved out today. My 18 year old, who says to us, look at it as her growing up, not moving away. I want to, and I know she is, but right now I'm not feeling in a good enough mood to write the whole thing and give some perspective.

I thought I would be able to write and discuss and process the whole thing but I'm just going to go tuck up in bed with the hubby, drink my Foster's and watch Sci Fi....

Life rears up and bites you in the ass sometimes and there are times I wonder why kids just don't understand what there parents are trying to do for them?

Because they have never been a parent.  When that time comes, they will gain a new appreciation of you and what you are going through.

That's exactly what my daughter said to me after the birth of my first grandson!  almost word for word for word....

that along with having a greater appreciation for the things that we'd bought for her,  suddenly K-Mart jeans weren't the end of the world...

I guess, but it's not one that I give readily because I didn't feel she was ready to do what she has done. However, I have to accept it and trust her that it is the right time for her, as I told her the night before she moved.




Their 'time' will come too.


I know and I hope it will be because they are moving into college dorms, and even then it won't be easy!

Sorry you are going through this.

I know how you feel, I've been pulled back in forth and my 15 year old just moved back in with his father again. Thus going to a place he's not appreciated.

Also my bother in law did the same thing.

Its really hard to let go when all you want to do is help them and keep them from going through all the crap you had to go through.

True! I have accepted that she has to go through her own heartaches and pain...I just wish I could prevent her going through any of that but I know it's a natural part of life!

Well, always hope for success stories. Sometimes they happen. My daughter moved out at 17, married at 19 and has a wonderful marriage 10 years on. It doesn't always work out that way but the magic word is "trust". Keep hoping that it will turn out well--it probably will!
