Decomissioning old battleships

I have not found a quick method of destroying large, obsolete fleets as a method to reduce my spending. Anyone here has a painless way of destroying excess inventory? Especially hard/difficult is Combat Transports (and they cost 5BC/turn!)

Reason is I have run into a weird game. Playing on the largest possible Galaxy, with abundant planets, all of the races has suddenly had an economic collapse. I was garnering abou 3,300BC/turn in revenue, but I am still able to only spend about 7BC on military improvements. I have decomissioned all my older fleet ships (Defenders, Starfighters and Corvettes), but this does not seem to help.

Any other ideas?

Could it be that another nation is trying to destabilize my economy? How can I tell?

TIA

You mean other than double-clicking on the ship and clicking the "Disband" button in the window that pops up? I dunno. I'll look, though.

This ship is on orbit around a star. So, I have to take the following steps to decomission it.

1. double click on ths ship brings the star in focus. I then have to open the star and select that ship from all the ships in orbit and move it out of orbit. Then click on it to activate it, then click on the decomission button, then click on the confirmation panel.

Then repeat numerous times .. once for each of the 64 Corvette class Pre-cursor ships I accidentally discovered. (Which, incidentally, are as useless as the Scouts, Defenders and Starfighters my Rangers and Starhawks are continuously finding in the anomalies).

I have yet to win a battle or planetary defense with either a starfighter or a Defender. Pure waste of resources to build those. :notsure:

Ahh. Well, I'd like to say you just have to go to the ship list, sort it by class, and go down the list hitting the little disband button on the tiny advisor panel, but, at least in my game, that button doesn't work (regardless of whether the ships are in orbit or not), so I can't help you. :(

That was what I was hoping to do myself. I've put in a bug report. :notsure:

If they are obsolete, sell them to another race - a good source of cash, plus since they are obsolete, it doesn't really hurt you.

Thats what I do all the time. Sell it to your closest friends or the enemy of someone you dont like.

LOL, very good idea! However, some of them (all of 'em) don't show up in the diplomacy list. But I will certainly do that.. Brilliant! Thanks, I do *so* need money!

By nature, I'm disinclined to play on a small map, so what I report only goes for the largest map with the most abundant planet setting. What use a fast P4 is not for game playing? ;)
