Shiny & The Collective Merge
Foundation 9 Merges Two Studios

Word has come out that Foundation 9 has merged two of their best known developers into one yet-to-be-named development studio. Foundation hopes that the merger of Collective and Shiny "will enable greater capacity to create large-scale games based on big licensed properties."
The indie development collective has already moved the new team to a 60,000 square foot Irvine, California headquarters where Former Shiny studio manager Michael Persson will take the reigns as new studio head. Persson said of the shake-up, "At this scale we now have the resources to truly distinguish ourselves as the go to developer for complete SKU lines from next-gen to current gen and PSP."
Both of the studios are currently working on titles including Shiny's multiplatform tie-in to The Golden Compass film, of which the game will have the same name, hitting stores with the help of SEGA this holiday season. Collective also recently announced that they are working with Konami on the next installation to the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill 5. Shiny is best know for the development of the Earthworm Jim franchise and the critically panned Enter the Matrix. The Collective has largely done licensed titles since its foundation in 1997 including a port of Men in Black and titles based on the 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Star Wars' properties. Their grandest original IP was working on Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.
