If you have repair technologies, they will repair themselves at a set rate. I haven't really noticed if there is a difference in healing rate between ships stationed in sectors you control, in orbit around planets, sectors with starbases, etc, but I would assume the healing rates improve when you're in areas you control and vice versa.

"...but I would assume the healing rates improve when you're in areas you control and vice versa."

I seem to remember Frogboy saying in one of his gameplay examples that a badly damaged ship en-route to a home base for repair was intercepted by enemies and destroyed. Still don't know what he meant by a home base - planet, starbase, etc.

I think ships repair faster around planet. There is also a starbase module which improves repair rates, so you could send ships to a sector with a few of these starbases with the required military modules for rapid repair.

Does anybody know the nuts and bolt of how fast they repair and how much the +10% increments actually affects repairs?

Sure: When your ship has little lightning sparks around it, its damaged. When they stop...its fixed.

The higher your repair score is the faster this goes.

Pretty simple really.

From my experience, ships repair a lot faster when parked on one of your planets, regardless of repair skill. Tried parking on a starbase but that didn't seem to help.
