Tim Schafer Squashes 'Psychonauts 2' Rumors

The creative mind of Tim Schafer, founder and CEO of Double Fine Productions has come out to deny rumors surrounding a possible port or sequel to the critically acclaimed, but commercial flop, PC, PS2 and Xbox title Psychonauts. Many gaming websites took the addition of blacked-out Psychonauts'-based art to the Double Fine webpage as indication that a new title or port will be announced shortly. As TG.net doesn't try to speculate nor report on rumors often we held off until an official response was heard which Schafer delivered to 1UP late yesterday, stating: "It's crazy, isn't it? We just put that in there as a placeholder for the Psychonauts page we're eventually going to have. But we made it dark and people freaked out," he told 1UP. "While I'm sorry people got their hopes up, I'm happy that people got excited about it. Who knows? Maybe some clever publisher will see how much excitement that dark little banner generated, and send us a few million dollars to make a new Psychonauts game! "
