Also, you can also go to tools->refresh data to pull the latest info from the server.

As long as it says 1.01A.

Technically the download is only 1 meg.

But if you didn't install Stardock Central AFTER you originally installed the game from CD or setup image, then you'll end up having to download the whole thing.

I did have to do this myself to install the multimedia, but I'm not going to garauntee this will work.

If you're not worried about potentially breaking something, you can try to fix it by altering the regestry entries for the SDC/GalCiv.

In Win9x, under 'HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv\' should be the following keys (and a number of others, but these are the ones that appear to be important as far as recognizing what GalCiv files are installed):

EXE set to String 'galciv.exe'
Path set to String type, with a value indicating the path to galciv.exe
Revision set to String '1.0.00' (for the CD version, the SDC version may have a different value)
(possibly Version set to String '1.0.00', the SDC version will probably have set String '1.01.029' which is the first update version, needed by the Bonus Pack)
Type set to String 'production'
(the key Updated may be needed too, and I don't have the value for that in the CD version)

For obvious reasons, I can't give the entries for the next items, but I will note their locations so you can check for their presence.

Under HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock\Drengin Network should be the keys Regcode and Serial with valid entries of whose nature depends on your Drengin.net serial number if you have a subscription to Drengin.net and have used the DGM. I don't know if this key is used by the SDC if you have never used the DGM or if it is under the Manager key.

Under HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stardock\Manager\Games\GC1 should be the keys Complete, Regcode, and Serial with entries that depend on your GalCiv registration code/CD code if you bought GalCiv of-the-shelf or ordered it from Stardock.

If you have both a GalCiv purchase, and a Drengin.net subscription, ONLY the Drengin.net entry(s) should be present, or the SDC may not correctly authenticate. Double check this in the SDC once you restart it as well, if necessary.

If those (that are applicable) are all in place, and no other keys under Drengin.net point to GalCiv, regardless of what the keys are called (I, for instance, had one labeled ']e' with the data for the beta/gamma versions of GalCiv) the SDC should recognize the files that are already installed.

Under Win2k/XP the keys may be in different places, but their internal structure should be similar.
