Bartering/Trading Interface.

When you are bartering - at the moment I (for example) select a tech I have, then ask for a certain amount of cash. If the other race rejects my offer - is there anyway to leave my current request there and amend it.
Eg if I ask for 50bc for 3 months and they say no - it defaults back to zero months and I have to start again. Would be more streamlined if the 50bc for 3 months stayed there and I could amend it to, say, 40 for 3, or 40 for 2 etc.
Also - it would be good (but this may an accepted part of the game - so is not really a critiscm of the interface) - if the AI would indicate how far away we are from a deal. Like in Civ3 when your advisor comes back with "We are close to a deal now". At the moment I have no idea how much more/less to offer/ask for. If this were to be included - would be good to only allow after you have researched an advance trade tech or something.

Ummmmm.... hasn't anyone else noticed that the diplomatic text will change colors depending on what the alien race thinks of the deal? Here is a hint... green = good :)

True. At least you don't have to submit the deal over and over to know if there is a good chance it'll be accepted. I guess I just like haggling with them to get the best balance between amount and number of months :)

we need some form of auto haggle, that barter is tedious. why don't they come to me an make offers?
I do not mind if I do not get the absolute best deal, but I sometimes look at a long list of things to offer to a new found race and have no clue what they may want and what it is worth to them.
How about a Civ3 like deal where you say what would you offer me for this or that?
I mean monthly or lump is also an issue.
