could we get a few more 6p-10p maps pls

Just for the beta as it is now. I just think we dont have enough 6p-10p custom maps. random map medium surfices most of the time but sometimes we could do with a few structured maps just for increase fairness or team-orientated games. I got some ideas too if anybody wants them

yah, if you guys arent going to release some new maps, can you at least release a basic editor with rudimentary tools so its not so insanely time-consuming to make a map?

I announced the map tool awhile ago in another thread and there are also more maps coming. Anyone will be able to create their own maps pretty easily

for maps? well, the current one with galaxy files isnt very complicated. not with a graphic interface, but if you put your mind to it, its not a big issue.

Its not a popularity contest.....oh wait it is   

anyway , kosc or hal would it be possible if you could create something that ive designed in Paint? for the benefit of the community   .

But....if IC want to see some of the stuff ive designed , that would be great. I think about 2-3 maps are worthy of "official quality"

will we be able to load maps to other people's computers? because as it is now, that doesnt work (tried it with a substitute for small_random)

I think this feature is a must.

Unlike land based maps which could be 30mb-50mb in size , sins maps are just a set of instructions as to where planets should go so should be easily auto-transferable either in the lobby , a vault system or just before the game loads.

well, send me sth and I ll see what I can do. make it as accurate as possible, not just a sloppy job, as the map editor need exact coordinates to work well. my experience from the first map was, that its better to plan it through to the very end before even starting to write a single line of code.

Agreed -- Aerolian sector, the 10 player multi-systemic map, comes in at 46 KBs in size, and is the biggest map available in terms of size.

That said, more "official" maps is still a very needed idea.

how about a little map contest? the best beta tester made maps make it into the final. more incentive for us to think of some crazy stuff and an overall benefit of having more and more diverse maps available from the very start for everybody.

From past experience: Such contests tend to have distinct legal issues, which most devs aren't interested in facing down.

Same as in Hw2 , with the 3d visual editor I made a ton of maps.

which is kinda why we are pleading with the devs to give us the map editor now rather then later. Who knows...by the time release happens there will be a REally good set of community tested 3rdparty maps .
