Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

I think I'm going to agree with him seth. At least not by the end of this weekend. The next however...

I will stand with it though that I won't be surprised to see a 2 in front of you alliance's standing if you keep up the speed or start pulling some of those 1-2 year games into the 0 year range.

Some predators like to prey on the weak and the sick. I call them my ancient ancestors. I have evolved and I prefer prey that can fight back!

Today we honor our first canine Hero (Senator), Loupdinour! :CONGRAT: This fellow predator has served the empire well, and proven he has the heart of a Kzinti!

That is always preferable to prey that just rolls over and dies. ;)

My first game using the Great Galactic Swindle strategy is nearing completion. Here's a shot of my economy at the peak of its weekly net income:

That's far better than my previous best game! :D

Danke.

Also, I'm very happy to reach #50 on the MV last night. This weekend also looks very promising!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to a lot of galactic time this weekend too. :D

The last endgame test I did with my swindle game scored 279k, but I plan to extend it another year or two and up the score significantly. I expect it will end up at upwards of 350k, which for a huge map with common habitable planets, is a score I am very happy with!

And so you should be - that's very good indeed. Best I managed on Huge was 438K - abundant everything. That wasn't using the swindle though.

Time to move up to gigantic / immense all abundant...

Not for me this weekend, I've got a trip down to London for a bit of metal madness  :D

Thanks Mag! :) My computer cant handle a more memory-intensive game, so until I upgrade a bit, I cant play abundant larger maps. Slows to a crawl and runs out of memory every few turns. Maybe I'll try huge all-abundant next and see if that is not to tortuously slow.

I wonder if we are all using the some variation of the same strat and just calling it different names among different empires ;) . The ToE and Diplo's have different names for what sounds like it could be the same thing as your Galactic Swindle. I just can't elaborate more due to a vow of secrecy and fear of punishment from Rosie clones(They're watching :SURPRISED: ). Just thought it was amusing :) .

Well, Saturday will be a wash for me, I already know that. I'll be found passed out in a yard for sure next to some sort of bottle/cup. Cuervo & Coke is sounding really good about now.

Yes, most definitely its the same thing. I made up the Great Galactic Swindle name because its sounds funny and grandiose, but I certainly didnt come up with the strategy by any means. Much thanks goes to Mumble, JustinSane, Motti, Neilo, and others who gave hints and tips. :) The secret is not really a secret. As I commented to Neilo about something else recently, nothing in the MV community stays a secret for very long.

It is the same thing DA. KP has referenced the relevant posts over at the Core in this thread.

In it's own right, it is a very powerful strategy when taken to the extreme limits as first demonstrated by Purge and Mumble. However I do not necessarily think it is the optimal strategy in it's purest form. You sacrifice a lot of first year growth in return for huge gains during the second year.

I certainly use the concept in my games, but within the framework of my overall fast start strategy. My aim is to have approx 30 planets (all building improvements and ships) and positive income by the end of the first year, and at least 80% of all available planets & mining resources by the end of the 2nd year. In one of my current games I have achieved the first year goal for the first time in TA, and the 2nd year goal should be easy using the swindle.

I think the scores I obtain reflect that this fast start approach is more optimal - when you consider that I do not build a military starbase array and have minimal military ratings when compared to those obtained by others (well under 10% of those previously reported by Mumble, Motti etc).

I am toying with the idea of pushing this game to the limit, building the array etc - but not sure I have the patience for it.

As an aside, the other game I have going... got the 30+ planets OK, but the econ is at -700 per week still. That'll teach me to try doing the same things with the Iconian Tech tree - everything is so expensive (5bc maintenance for their starting morale building  :SURPRISED: ). Damn good production possibilities though with their +50% building... if I can get the economy settled.

Yea, I like how the Meta and the empires have melded into a community that helps each other out and shares info now. In the early days of GC2 you had a lot of secrecy and and the resulting bad blood when that secrecy was compromised by a "defector" or alleged spies. The Meta and it's Participants have come a long way since then :) .

Its a strategy to use a uber-high diplomacy ability to buy the AIs planets away from them.

And here's the result of my first completed Swindle game:

Photobucket

That's about 80% better than my previous highest scoring game! :D

Next time I'll do it on suicidal, complete it more quickly, and maybe bump the habitable planets up to abundant.

Nice game KP. Kinda takes the fun out of slaughtering your opponents, but sure does wonders for your score!

:CONGRAT:
Thanks Neilo. :D Yeah it does abrogate most of the conquering phase, but the score boost is quite nice.

I started my second Swindle game, where I went from 10 planets to 191 this time, and also did it 4 months earlier. Definitely a marked improvement from my first try. I dont think my initial setup was as good, but I tweaked a few things.

There are a few foes left to subjugate and slaughter, so I can take pleasure in that. ;)

Pumped out a few more ZYWs too, so when the MV updates I'll have the #4 & #5 spot, just behind a certain Centurion Neilo. :HOT: If not for Motti doing a bunch of ZYWs yesterday, I would have made it into the top three. :SURPRISED: Maybe tomorrow...
