Pleasantly surpsised by GalCiv

Kind observations from a newbie to GalCiv and this forum...

I had been craving a new 4x space game for some time, something that had enough details (not exhausting) and had that elusive "immersion" factor. I picked up GalCiv yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the title. IMO, it is graphically well done. And even statistics are laid out nicely and are presented in a non-overwhelming fashion. So far, so good. And good immersion in this game. Didn't get the same feeling in titles like Space Empires. Very much liking the diplomatic events with the United (Nations?) on deciding new policies. Terrific! And the random events are cherished as well. Life is never predicatable, so these little buggers are just great.

Probably best of all is this forum and the participants. I have been lurking on the Moo3 forum, and it seems filled with animosity. Also have been playing SimCity 4 and the forums feel just like the same. Have to sift through dozens of angry messages just to get to something interesting. Here, I get much more constructive conversations from players and (even) the programmers. This added extra really helps to keep you interested and excited about a title.

I'm looking forward to participating and contributing here soon. Just as soon as I figure out how to survive and (gulp) win once or twice!

I agree. Refreshingly awesome game. Great interface, nice depth level. I also like the dev interaction and response time to issues on the forums.

I was waiting for MoO3 and never bought it due to it just not looking like anything MoO and terrible reviews/descriptions. GalCiv to the rescue!

Yup, gotta hand it to Stardock, their support has clearly made a lot of us very happy. Im glad i dont have to try to play Moo3 now, and have to sift through one of the most agressive forums i have ever come across!

I have both games and while I prefer GalCiv I feel an urge to say that you have to hand it to the developers of MoO3 as well.

Wait for it. . . .
