The latest content patch from CCP for their MMORPG Eve Online has created quite a stir since it was released on December 5. The patch, which includes an updated graphics engine and five new ship classes, has a major bug in it that can cause Windows XP to crash due to a loss of the boot.ini file which is used in the start-up process.
The bug affects any user with two hard drives, one of which runs Windows XP. For those who have installed the patch (the stand-alone client does NOT contain the bug), have two hard drives and haven't rebooted yet the problem can be fixed before it takes full form. Otherwise for those users who's system has already crashed, a little technical expertise is needed for the fix but the system, including data on it, is basically fine.
