Planetary invastion debt

Maybe I missed this in the manual, but every time I invade an enemy planet, my treasury goes HUGELY into debt (so much so that it takes several turns of no production to get out!). What's the rationale for this?

Other options aside from Traditional Warfare cost LARGEEEEE amounts of money.

...
those warfare costs are 1 time fees
the only reason i can think of:
the plannet u just invaded, u prolly crushed their population so they can't really produce much and outcost their revenue

That's generally true of a new colony, regardless of how you got it. Morale on a conquered colony tends to be low for a few turns, though, so it does generally end up in a worse shape than usual.

And the invasion costs are large enough that you could end up spending your entire treasury and then some on one invasion. I almost never have the funds on hand when I actually start invading systems, and end up in the red for five or six months after each system.
