Vista SP 1 RC released!

causes issues with Desktop X??

Ello. I installed Service Pack 1 RC canidiate last night. Well Now I notice that I have an Issue with some of my desktop X widgets. I get an Error and then Vista shuts em down. I have noticed this especially with Weather Widgets.


I am not sure what I should do but I am using Vista Ultimate and desktop X 3.5

I wanted to give everyone a heads up on this issue I found.
Any advice anyone has to offer would be helpful.

I learned something new today. If you run UAC with Sp1, Desktop X will run. If you have tweak vista installed you can changed the security level to remove all prompts for elevation from UAC. All seems well so far. I always kept UAC off because of the prompts.

Thanks Very much Car.. I wasn't Running UAC before and now that I started to and turned UAC on it would seem that now my widgets and Desktop X are doing great and working as normal..


I find it very wierd but glad for the advice Car and am relieved that the Desktop X issue got fixed.

I just installed it myself.
Did a complete system backup of my C drive first... just in case.
It took 1 hour to install and was worth every second that it took.
My system is running faster than it ever has with any OS installed on it.
No problems at all either.  :CONGRAT:  :CONGRAT:

and as for SP 1 being speedy thats relative in my opninon..


Though now that I got it acclimated and UAC is running I haven't had any Issues and it does seem a little smoother and such...


Its still a BETA though and I am not naieve to think its Perfect.. shoot I won't even thing the FULL public release of SP 1 perfect...


but thats just my thinkin on Microsoft heh :D

You can download a file that will allow you to get the RC over updates.
