Why does game take so long to quit?

I know this game uses a lot of memory--some of it virtual.
But I have never seen a game that takes this long to quit.
Sometimes several minutes, sometime it hangs.
Ctr-Alt-Del can sometimes get rid of the game but even then
it is long and arduous.

Hey, I still love the game and keep on playing it!

I press F6 and BANG the dirt is gone! I mean it instantly quits out.

As I have not read the manual I am not sure if F6 is a bug or a feature but it is what I use.

I wonder whether F6 cleans out the memory properly but I'll try it.
It's weird that "quit" doesn't get you out quickly.

On my grandparent's Vista, I press 'Quit' and it's gone in under 10 seconds.

At my sucky home computer,it can take between several minutes... or I have to power off.

I think it's a question of speed

The game seems to intermittently hang on something when it goes to quit. The system prior to my current (which wasn't all that slow) would do this quite a bit. My new system never seems to hang on quit. When I had a problem, I would just jump to task manager and kill it that way. I don't think I have a problem anymore, but I'll try the F6 method if it happens again.

I have noticed that it hangs more often if I do not wait 10 seconds or so after going to the main menu, before I actually hit the Quit button.

And once I hit Quit, it is usually out within 3-4 seconds.

At what point do you hit "F6"?
At the menu?

If I hit F6 when looking at the map in the game it just quits. Like I said above this may not be a real way of exiting the game but it works for me.

Sounds more like a bug to me. F6 should bring up one of the statistics screens, but I'm not home to test it.

The F6 should bring up the civ manager, which it does on my game.

It doesn't quit for me while looking at the map. We are talking about DA, right?

Maybe it depends on the version.

The Windows "close" hotkey is Alt-F4. That does the same thing as closing a program from the task manager.

I have DA must be a bug heh I also have purchased TA but not installed as it is still beta.
