A small details, but the colors are too close

Am I the only person who has a hard time discerning between the dark blue used for the player's empire (mini-map showing influence) and the black of deep space where there is no influence? This may not usually be a problem, but I played a game the other day, where I was going for a culture victory, and I kept having to squint at the screen to determine in a sector was mine or nobody's.

Any chance a future upgrade can make the color configurable?
