Battle Chatter

Just wondering.... is there any battle chatter when space battles take place like when you zoom in close you can hear it but when you zoom out its faint or in the background? if not, it would be pretty cool to have that in the game. anyway it was more a passing thought than anything.

I hope they add much more chatter or at least make possible for us to add a lot in que and by class as well as race. I'm thinking play list options here with random access. There are hundreds of Star Trek and B5 comments I can think of that would add a serious level of immersion value to the game play if it is possible to add such an amount of a little detail such as this. Remember kiddies, "the devil is in the details."

there have been a lot of threads about it before, and it was generally considered a good idea IIRC, but iunno if the devs are going to do it

hm, you know an interesting thing?

nobody can hear your petty socializing in space, isnt that cool?
xD

Well then your in luck, socializing isn't what you do best  ;p

Then again... Weapons fire and engine noise aren't audible in space either, but they're in game!

Ohhhh.. the damage reality does to our image of a perfect game. :(

Its way too late to add features that aren't already in the game, they can't possibly get it ready in time for release. Now, as a post-patch thing, maybe, but you already have issues with one sound "clipping" out another...

Battle chatter won't make it in for the initial release though we do still intend to include it in a future patch or content release. It was scheduled to be recorded along with all the other voice work but it didn't fit in the time allocated and the unit voice work was higher priority.

Bummer. But what can one do??? Well at least the system is in place so it will give us modders somethign to do in the interim.

and they are going to include it at some point. there are bigger bummers out there to complain about.

Logic dictates it so. Given the code base has nothing to do with talent schedules. I can't imagine them reworking the core engine design just to add voices functionality after the fact and as a separate system from the ship sound system. But then I'm not a real programmer so my premises may be off.

I can :D

Something to the effect of "We don't need it, don't add it untill we have something to put in there!"

Bah! That is simply piss poor design and I would expect more from them since this is not their first title. Additionally with SD as the publisher, with all its game development experience surely it has some sort of project oversight action going on to boot. Moreover if they use software industry based best practices in their development cycle it simply is not reasonible.

whoooo talking planets what would they say. "ahhhhhh where under attack" "ahhhh where burning to death". or better yet "why have you forsaken us". many funny things could be in there. :)
