AI Surveyor Parked on an anomoly

well the title pretty much says it all. This has happed a couple of times to me in th past and occured again last night. One of the AI civs has a survey ship that sits on an anomoly, it doesnt collect it, it just sits there. The problem is that my survyor is on auto survey an it sits next to the AI ship and waits.

It took a few turns for me to realize i hadn't heard from it in a while and then i searched for it, now i have to manulally look for anomolies because on auto survey it will go back to the stuck one. Some of he other AI survey ships are also gathered there.

HAs anyone else had this happen? Is there a way to get that AI ship going again? Why isnt it getting the anomoly?

Sounds like one of the bugs that were supposed to be fixed in the latest builds. What version are you using?

I've had this happen a few times. I think it comes from a survey ship going through a wormhole and ending up on a space with an anomaly. It can't 'get' the anomaly, and it won't move away. They trap monkeys like this in India with an orange in a jar - the monkey can't get the orange out with its paw, but it won't drop the orange even when people come to grab it.

A quick work-around is to park an armed ship next to stuck flagship, sell it to another AI, then pay them to attack the owner of the stuck ship. The AI will almost always attack immediately, unlike trying this tactic with an offending starbase.

Hi!
A quick work-around ...
End of quote

Why a quick work-around? When all the AIs' survey ships are parked around it, is the rest of the galaxy yours to survey. ;)

True, but eventually all of yours will get stuck there too, and unless you are paying attention they will sit there for some time. Yeah, I admit I've had that happen a few times  X-(

Especially when you have several running, you may not notice one or two have stopped getting anomalies until much later.

This is particularly irritating when your survey ship is armed because you will get bombarded with pop up messages asking if you're sure you want to go to war. You have to click on 'no' so many times and with each click the surveyor tries to move into the anomoly again but doesn't use any movement points. Eventualy the turn ends despite the surveyor having not moved, and then I go and forget to turn auto-survey off the following turn and it happens all over again.

Its nice that most of the AI ships are there too but that just may well be the last one in the galaxy. I wont know until that ship goes away or i search every inch of space manually. OK what i do is, after a few turns i turn auto-survey back on and jut see if the ship will go back to the blocked anomoly, if so i just keep sending it further away.

Its just the Thanlans anyway and in this game they somehow wound up with just one planet. hahahahaha. so i just may get roid of that thing myself.
