my bootskins aren't working

i've tried evrything

i have created my first bootskin,
it has a windows royale kind of theme but there's 1 problem
bootskin doesn't recognise it  (:( 
this is my bootskin
i tried evryting but the program doesn't recognise it
so i've downloaded an other bootskin and pasted mine over it in photoshop
so i had the sizes and evryting perfect,
The skin i used
the weird part is that the skins are saved in the programfiles folder?
so can anyone tell me what is wrong with my skin.

The bootskin images you have are full colour. They need to be 16 colour only, and from the same colour palette.

i did save them as 16 color bmp i actuly cut the loading image from the background psd so i dont think they have different colour palettes or am i wrong ????

You need to be working on a bmp image not a psd.

You have them as a 16bit bitmap, they must be a 4bit bitmap, 4bit is 16 color.

There are 3 reasons that bootskin will not recognize a skin

1) wrong color depth for screen image (this is problem you have)
2) wrong size for screen image
3) wrong name info for screen image in the .ini file

ok i understand the problem now
so i saved it as a 16 color bitmap
and it looks awfull isnt there a trick to change the system so you can use at least 32 colors or more ???

The trick to creating bootskins is to start with images that do not have a wide range of colors. In yours the 2 windows flags are using different colors, if they where the same flag as far as colors the image would look better at 16 color.
