cursorfx beta3

cursorfx beta3

i was just notified by sdc that an update was available and let it install and let the system reboot. and as mentioned already i noticed my cursor going under everything. i found that resetting the cursor to windows default and then reseting to the cursor i want solved the problem. you will probably also have to redo your effects settings.

Here's another good one that happened to me today... I have a laptop and use the touch pad mostly. The cursor actualy came back to the top when I activated the drag function (double tap and hold) and stayed there after the drag was completed until I again neaded a context menu. So it seams that on my PC at least the cusor stays ontop until I use the right mouse click. Not sure if that helps. Win Vista Ultimate 32bit with all service packs and patches.

A little update to this. You know how you only notice things that don't work because they are annoying... Well this problem seems to be gone now, on my system at least. I updated my WB to 6.02.024 yesterday and since then my z order issue seems to be gone with CursorFX but I'll keep an eye on that for a while before I uncross my fingers. Of course it has a downside as I had to post a problem that occurs on my machine with said WB update not skinning all opened windows first time... Jon

I think if you unload windowblinds you'll see CursorFX  acts normally ontop of everything. With windowblinds running it goes behind also on dx widgets..Just a suggestion.. :) Maybe someday they'll fix them so they both work right...

I have the same "UNDER" issue, as well as having some problems with the main program screen not redrawing correctly.

Is there not a way to pull up the config window without having to go thru my start menu?
Is there a tray icon? or a hot key? maybe i missed it.

I had the same issues.  I uninstalled everything (cursorFX and CursorXP) ran a regclean, rebooted, reinstalled and all my CursorFX issues were resolved.  I think previous versions were leaving files behind.

The joyus of beta software.  :D

You could always right click on the exe and select "Pin To Start Menu". My shortcut is in OD.

I was contated by the person working on CursorFX for a beta test. He sent me a file that worked, but that's been over a week now I haven't heard anything since. Haven't had the problem yet. :D

You can also add to quick launch...

For all of you that are having the problem with the cursor going behind drop down menues follow Zubaz's fix in reply #58. It worked for me, but then I broke it again.

No really, it worked then I broke it. I found out that another program was the culpret causing the problem. I run Windows Defender, I was checking with each boot up in the morning to see if there were updates. Well guess what, as soon as I click to open it, there goes the cursor. I just caught it doing the uninstall, reboot and reinstall of CursorFX Plus.

So the rest of you might try it also and see if you have a program that is causing the problem, if you run Windows Defender, you may have your answer.  ;)

I was contacted also but didn't get anything to try out... :(

Philly0381, has defender ever hit on anything for you? I've been running it since the first beta and I have never had it hit on a thing.  :NOTSURE:

(:( Well so much for the good news.  (:(

I minimize SDC and went to my desktop and guess what, cursor messed up again. So something that I running is causing the problem. Here I thought I had solved my problem. Well back to investigating again.  :NOTSURE:

CarGuy1 when I first downloaded I did. Now I don't get any hits, but then it's the 4th anti-adware/spyware program that I run once a week scans with. Maybe this week I use it first and see. I haven't found anything with any of the programs I run in more than a year. Hope that means I have a clean computer.  :NOTSURE:

all is quiet on the cfx front. the silence is deafening. i know we have a beta but we paid for it. the developers should be pasing along some form of information. lets see what we have. the cursor under thing can happen for almost anything from hitting the start button to you name it. i abbreviate to the cu affect. even in the cu effect cursor trails and even effects still stay on top. amazing. ihave deduced the following. the cursor in windows is by definition always on top. you can not get rid of it, but you can hide it. this is what cfx does. when you enable a cfx cursor it first hides the default windows cursor and causes the cfx program to be executed. the windows cursor is still there but hidden. when you select the default cursor the control panel unhides the default cursor and end the cfx program. it also disappears from startup programs. people have reported never getting their default cursor back. thats because they ended the program with the task manager or some other way. the cursor was never unhid. my logic leads to a tracking and or a timing and or a synch problem. anyway, i wouldnt have to appear as a long winded idiot if stardock would pass along a few words of info.

No information does not mean no action.

I don't get it . . you bought a beta . .  knowing it was a beta . . and now you are complaining because it's a beta?   ;)

I'm sure that it's being worked on and we'll get a new build when it's ready.   :CONGRAT:

zubaz: im not complaining. i was just asking for a little information. people post here on the problems they have. they also post on maybe this is the problem or that is a problem. getting some info will tell me that they bother to read this forum and that our thoughts are on track or way off. some of us are or were programmers. most of us have inquireing minds. you dont want stardock to be another symantec, do you?
You are correct leobull and for all newcomers to Stardock I can see why there maybe some hesitation. After you have been with and used Stardock programs for a while you will become more confident with bugs and problems being taken cared of.

Always remember that you can email [email protected] if any programs are not working as they should. The forums, put best, are for informal support and information from fellow community members and yes at times from Stardock Reps.  ;)

Ditto to the mentioned problems. Only saw one reply from Stardock appearing to blame Microsoft, if I understood his reply. My problem began after update (cursors under drop down menus and start bar and settings do not apply (color, size et).

CTRL SHIFT C returns the default windows cursor at any time. It used to toggle in cursorxp, but in cursor fx it just restores the windows one. Is there a hotkey to start cursorfx's last chosen cursor without going into the program?
Another thing, when I disable cursorfx by hitting ctrl shft c, and then renabling the theme I was on, I loose the effects that I set and even though they are still set uder effects, I have to hit apply again. Those effects should be universal if chosen so.
