The top teir of the gaming community are Schod, Multi, and Annatar.

It stands today, and I doubt things will change on release unless by some unknown miricale GE pumps up its beefy beefheads even more.

I do think that it will change a month or so after, as soon as the poeple who exploit some aspect of the game play enogh to reach the top. Then, it will get interesting

I'll be here, watching it all fall apart or come together.

Do be aware that thats hardly a very comprehensive and effective list. Multi and Anny aren't exactly online all that much these days (not that I am either, except for pre-scheduled games) and other players -- like Eets -- are far more effective than you give them credit for.

On top of that, Schod isn't all that great a player. He's only a little above my skill level, and there are plenty out there that are better than I am.

i will be waiting for a demo because i played the beta at a friends house (beta 3 or earlier.. i dunno... it only had one team though)..... and it kicks ass!

dont take that as only waiting for a demo.... i usually play demos first...... then buy...

when you can comprehensively beat me as I did you then we can talk about my skill level being close to yours.
besides, its a real insult to all of the numerous players I have beaten on.

seriously enough, I've beaten you more than once and have always been polite about it. but then you come back and twist my words saying that victory should have been yours under a single happenstance lucky onetimer (something I beat you to fair and square) then proceed to bash me as being only moderately better than you despite the fact that you NEVER engaged in any offense against me. you need to prove something before you talk Ron, you have proven nothing yet.

... We've played 2 one on one games. The first one crashed (though you would have probably won) the second one (dead asteroid one) was close, hardly a horrible defeat for me. Any other games we've been in were team affairs, and the one I can recall off the top of my head you were on my side.

So who's twisting words now?



You're over-reaching on what I meant to say. The one game we've played to an end was the ping-pong one. Where I did, in fact, engage in several offensives. They didn't amount to much -- and the fact that I did them in penny packets just made that worse -- and the fact is, had I owned that dead asteroid the map probably would have gone the other way. There is, naturally, no certainty, but relieving the constant strategic pressure that asteroid was placing on me -- especially since it would have given me a route other than the sun to reach your territory, alleviating what amounted to a strategic choke point -- would have allowed me to increase my offensive "spending".

how exactly do you define me shredding your infrastructure as a "close" battle?
I seem to have difficulty understanding where you're coming from, theres no way any sane person would consider that battle "close", your armada was shredded by mine at a decent click, thats after I shredded your infrastructure through the usage of a minor handful of ships.

ok fine, so you sent a small strike group of frigs in past one planet, but those were torn to shreds very quickly. after that you were far to busy with your defense

Ron I put *NOTHING* on that asteroid, there were a couple of missile defenses and thats it. you *could* have chosen to go through the asteroid to attack me, and similarly I'm sure you wouldnt have defended it sufficiently to prevent me from going through it in any case

and if it was so vital why didnt you take it back? its because I never gave you the chance to. that was a solid, complete defeat ron. and it was done in relatively quick time to, so stop BSing me.

now frankly you didnt do badly, you might have tripped up during the beginning but otherwise your choice of economy exceeds what I expect from a player, I in fact define you as good. what happened there was that I had a perfect opportunity and I siezed it.

I didnt think I would start an arguement. I was basing my views of what I saw during the time that the better half of the community was active, since then I believe things to be quite irrelevant.

TGE I thank you, what happened here was a matter of hubris hijacking memory, its really nothing more.

if I remember correctly Ron had gotten all the way to Tech level 12, so obviously he wasnt doing poorly. it just wasnt a hairline game like he's claimed.

Um, it was a strategic chokehold in that it gave you a perfect defensive position -- if I tried to go through the sun, you could jump your fleet at me before I could get anywhere. If I tried to avoid the sun, I had to go through the dead asteroid where you fleet actually was.



Fine, lets try a new game post release Personally, from the games we've played, I'd say we're about equal -- which means you'd get crushed by some of the people I've been playing with.
