Sins BETA Tournament 26th January

I have set up a tournament using the following website, [www.myleague.com/sinsplayers/] for Saturday the 26th of January! The tournament is free to sign up, as is the league itself.

I have put a lot of my spare time into setting this up, and the only way we can make this league stick around is if you guys get on there and register! the url is www.myleague.com/sinsplayers (Please take a moment to glance over the rules before registering)

Once registered, if you wish to play in next weekend's "Freshers" tournament, click on the tournament calender link to the left of the screen, and skip through to Saturday January 26th, or alternatively click on the following link, once registered for the free league and enter your league details:

The maps for each of the rounds will be decided on Friday the 25th of January, based on general polls and also the amount of members who register

Have fun and play fair

One more thing, if you wish for the tournament to be held on Sunday the 27th instead, please inform me on this thread so i can make the alteration

great, well the cool thing about signing up is that you are then entered into the league, and you can host ladder league games in the lobby, for ranking. you can then work on improving your ranking/win % etc. in pursuit of the number 1 spot

if we can get a load of members to sign up, i will be hosting clan tournaments monthly, with many events on different and interesting settings, as well as single player tournaments, all free of charge!

I'm good for either day, I've signed up on the site.

if this is going to be anything more than a 2 step ladder you are going to want to dedicate more than one day to it, some games can last hours on end.

No time exams are to close.

it will be a case of finding your opponent for the next round by whatever means, and then arranging a time, as soon as possible to play out your match. if that means going into sunday, then that is fine.

As someone who has been the TD for several myleague tournaments and a participant in numerous others I can tell you that that is a bad idea. The key to a successful, conflict free tournament is very clear rules and a well organized time table.

The problem with the "whenever, wherever" approach is that it can easily become frustrating trying to find your opponent(s). One missing person can delay the start of a match which delays the match after that. There needs to be a clear cut-off point at which missing people are assumed to have forfeit so that the rest of the tournament can proceed. I don't have a problem with a 2-day tourney but the times need to be set ahead of time. I think that Multi and Annatar did a great job with their tournament so you should look to them as examples.

Aside from that I'd love to participate. Only thing is that I work from 10-3pm PST (6-11pm GMT) on the weekend so having it later than that would be pretty inconvenient to our European friends. But, schedule permitting, I'll be there!

well, if you're interested please sign up, i'd prefer you signed up and withdrew than not sign up at all, bcos it appears as tho everyone is waiting for someone else to sign up at the moment! :)

3 people have signed up for the tourney so far. i hope to see a few more people signing up before saturday, and then on saturday i will be in the sins lobby answering questions and helping people sign up, and Conan will be in the IRC doing the same there.

we look forward to your competition

I also agree. As someone who has organized a few MOO tournaments you need clear rules on what to do when a player doesn't show up (I usually say give them 15 minutes then the forfeit). If you can't agree on a time then the tournament must specify a set start time. You also need some rules for player disconnects (restart or continue from a game save, how long to wait before it's a forfeit). You might also have to specify a map and any AI for each round.

the rules are to be posted tomorrow, i am still in discussions with Conan about the specifics like maps. i only got the game on sunday and so am still testing out some maps for the best 1v1 games

in terms of the rules of the tournament, they are posted on the tournament site, at the moment it is a 10 minute wait if your opponent is not present and if a player drops, you must also wait 10 minutes until they show up either in the lobby or on the IRC. the player who is left must save the game in case the other member shows up within this 10 minute period.

there are no AI's for any round

yeah, it was rather obvious this was going to flop...

well I'll try, maybe... when does it start? (I'm not hopping on your website, not dealing with the hassle)
