Metaverse - how is it supposed to work?

I've tried browsing the forums for an explanation, but there are too many and I cannot seem to find a clear description...

I'm not sure how the Metaverse is supposed to work - does it submit scores of games when they end? If so, does it mean I have to be online when I win a game, or what? I normally play at home, on my laptop - offline. Does this mean Metaverse submissions are closed to me?

I just want to know... (:(

Yes.

To submit something via the internet... yeah, you need to be online.

You should, however, just be able to alt-tab out of the game once you win, connect to the 'net, then alt-tab back to the game and submit your score (the submission isn't automatic, it asks you if you want to submit first). I haven't tried finishing a game w/o my connection active, however, so I'm guessing somewhat here.

OK - too bad for me then - it looks like I won't be able to submit any results then (since I cannot easily connect to the Internet from home). (:(

Could you save the game just prior to winning and then transfer the saved file to the computer with the internet connection?
