AI Question

I was wondering if any of the AI difficulties in final cheat at all and at what level of difficulty do they start(given extra resources, faster build times, vision, etc.). Was also curious if there were any AI options for an impossible level of difficulty(similar to CFW's Nightmare AI).

The Devs have expressed some interest in adding a "cheating" AI at some point, but not necessarily for release.

Givenn the fact that this is the same team who developped Galactic Civilizations 2 you can be sure that the AI will be up to your expectations and that you will really have hard time beating it. Now in GC2 the AI didn't cheat but it was able to wipe out the floor with you on hard level.

The AI doesn't cheat at the moment. We're thinking of adding in a higher difficulty level that will cheat with resource bonuses for players who want added challenge.

Actually, that's not true. Stardock is only the publisher for Sins; Ironclad is the actual developer, and therefore they're the ones who programmed the AI. It's true that Brad (Frogboy) wrote the AI for GalCiv2, but he's just the executive producer for Sins.

All that said, Brad has stated that the AI in Sins is very good. And given that he knows what he's talking about when it comes to AI, I take that as a good sign.  ;)

Yeah, GalCiv2 AI is some of the best AI i've seen. Of course, it could be that I just suck at the GC2, but the AI managed to kick my ass more then once after I figured out most of the game.

If Sins AI is anything like it (a bit harder, because of the greater number of values and options, and less mathematical certainty) it will rock.
