unit cap???

Hello i have a really important question and that is what will the unit cap be for the ships that you have???

will it be like homeworld 2 and you kinda have squadrens or will there just be a unit number balance system like in starcraft?? and if so what is that number??

2000 fleet point cap in Beta 4, not sure on the max at release. Various ships cost different amounts, but 2000 is enough for 300-400 ships depending on your composition :P

Also worth noting that the cap will be easily moddable, nothing is hardcoded in that sense. Some people already modded the beta to get 20k+ ships (granted, that slowed their PCs to a crawl, but hey it's possible!)

Can't wait for a mod to come out where all you do is build ships until the other person's computer crashes. Last PC standing = victor. :d

I was under the impression that Sins had no unit caps, and it was dependent on the power of your system as to how many you can have (or so says the website)

The ENGINE is capable of that, but the actual game needs limits just to keep the insanity down. Otherwise things just degenerate into steamroller push fests.

Wish I could dig up Multianna's thread and show you what I mean. He literally had 20,000+ Kols running around a system. His system nearly melted and burned his house down in the process, but the screen caps are incredible!

Kilumanjaro sums it up pretty well. Sins itself has a cap but the engine doesn't. You can bump the Sins cap up to some crazy high number if you like by editing a text file with notepad but I don't you will ever the default one in a regular game.

It was definately awesome seeing Multi's 20,000 Kols. I'll be keeping those screenshots for a long time to come! :)

ok thanks guys i was a little woried when homeworld 2 came out no one would answer my question and to me the unit caps killed that game, which is why howe world 1 waws so awesome and i think it is even played today because at one point i had 1000 defneders moving in a planet size sphere that killed battle cruisers in like 10 secs. so the same is basically possible awesome.

Uploaded my unit cap mod to Database(HexEdit), but takes 5 days to show, anywhere else I can post the files.

Tried with the mod tools and game kept crashing on bootup so gave up.
