UK Release

In terms of finding a european publisher how long should I be expecting to wait until release day? And also, if I were to go down the route of importing the game is the DVD not region coded so that my UK comp cant run it? (btw I dont really like the idea of just downloading, (changing computers, ease of reinstall from blank hard drive etc))

There is no publisher ATM for ALL of europe, and none are even showing a hint of interest. The earliest depends on how well Sins does in the USA and forces these publishers to carry sins.

There is NO cd protection what-so-ever. If your currently living on earth, you can play the game.

The anti piracy measure involves using "Stardock Central" to register your CD key with so you can download and install patches and play online, you do not need the CD key for single player.

You can order the game from this site (see "Store" button on top of window) and TotalGaming.net.

The digital download is actually the Collectors Edition, but it's all digital. If you want the CE box, it's $10 shipping in the USA, $20 shipping internationally (USD).

If you wish to use paypal, you will have to wait for the game to be released (i'm guessing 9:00 pm GMT monday) for whatever reason. If you order the CE box, you can also get the digital download, if you get the digital download later you can order the CE box for $5 extra + shipping and handeling.

Also from Europe. Wow, was just made aware of this game today via a friend. Mesa want :) I don't mind using totalgaming or download/purchase direct here but are there any chance Sins of a Solar Empire will be found on GamersGate.com ? Gotten used to them and it works.

nope , it WILL NOT be on gamersgate.com

thats why STARDOCK has their own digital distribution system :p

Downloaded it last night from UK after reading this thread. I havent downloaded a game before, but i found it easy and quick. Hell, i'd publish it for you if had the money and the contacts! Great game btw, a certain hit! Offers that step above your standard RTS and is a REAL innovation RTS unlike World in Conflict which is just posing as a RTS but is really an RTT.

Have you thought of getting in contact with valve and using steam as a distribution platform for the oversea market? Steam is a massively popular distribution platform that's helped many developers get their games out there.

Would love to buy this game, one of the few I've really been interested in for a while and if I could get it over steam, I would in a heartbeat.

Sins of a Solar Empire will never appear on Steam. Stardock has its own digital distribution system called TotalGaming.net that's used worldwide.

how long will the 'upgrade' from 'download only' to 'physical-collectors-edition' be available? bit low on cash atm, so would like to not spend the extra right now if i can avoid it, but don't want to miss my chance on the collector's edition.
not looking for an exact date, just whether its a few days/weeks, or whether it'll always be available, for example.

cheers in advance,
Tieg.
