When does 'age ' show ?

How long does it take for a person to get enough courage to stand up to the world and announce in a loud and clear, yet whisper that he is a grown up ? And what exactly does it mean -being grown up ? Being on your own ? Getting others to listen to what you say and actually think about it ?Paying more for a bus ticket ?
So many times we have to take grown up decisions about childish matters and suffer 'troublesome teenage' circumstances and endure through lavish criticism of more experienced and higly advanced senior minds .
And all this time nobody bothers to ask about the actual age !
