(Solution included)installation hangs: SetRegistryValue.vbs

Hi,

Everything seemed to be going well on my installation until it set itself into a loop:

Downloading: SetRegistryValue.vbs_
Extracting: SetRegistryValue.vbs

It's been repeating this for about 30 minutes now! Can anyone help?

System specs:

Lenovo Thinkpad T61p
NVidia Quatro FX 570M
Intel Centrino Duo 2.2 GHz

Thanks!

Kevin: Do you have any security applications running in the background. With something like a .vbs file, it may be flagging that as something it doesn't want on your system.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I don't think I have any security processes running, other than whatever mysterious stuff Vista has going on. By default, Lenovo installs "Windows Defender", but I've disabled it long ago. Below is a screenshot of the processes running while I get this problem.

I also tried the "Archive Application" & "Restore Archive" trick I saw mentioned in another post, but I've run into the same problem.

Thanks for your help!

Im getting a similar problem, though it just fails with a pop-up window saying view log. There is no log to view though. Im running kaspersky internet security, but ive enabled it to allow SDC full registry access.

Edit: Ive tried running it with kaspersky disabled, with no luck.

Im running vista, with SDC v2.52.515, windows firewall and defender are disabled, and I have full priviledges on my account.

Hi all,

I noticed I was using an old version of Stardock Central (v2.50.something). After installing the new SDC, the installation ran smoothly.

Yea, I was about to say. That's my exact machine and it works fine.

I am having the same problem, while downloading and extracting the SetRegistryValue.vbs file the % is showing some weird value ie: over 100% or a negative % and it keeps repeating the dowload and extract phases

my computer is AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600, 2gb ram, gforce 8800 GTS with vista home premium 64 bit

Some are saying that updating stardock central helps, i am running version 2.50.511 i dont know if this is the most current but running auto update doesn't improve it

Please Help!

try updating SDCentral manually by redownloading it from https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/

The latest version is 2.52.something
