Blazing fast downloads! Holy cow! (785 KB/s)

I'd say you guys beefed up the lines :)

I snagged it in about 30 mins!
Go Stardock and go Comcast (never thought i'd say that).

Meh, I had 900kb going once in the beta; and I think some people had even higher.

Agreed. Kudos to Stardock for springing for the extra bandwidth!

Got you guys beat... I was hitting 7000KB+ for a while there. But then again, i'm using government Internet connection here at my work. Your tax dollar at work. :) I hope they don't block off stardock soon.

I start to DL then I opened my email immediately after that I opened my browser then came here and posted in one thread. Clicked on this one then the message about successful install poped -up. All in all less then five (5) minutes methinks. Awesomeness!

Lucky you. I have about 100kps average. Charter "high speed" internet is kind of slow at 8:00, but on a morning, it goes at about 500kps... how stange

I hate you all! Stupid Verizon DSL only does 125 kb/s >.<

Hey, i was happy that my 8meg comcast line was near saturated. I've never gotten anywhere near that speed.

(google it, b is bit, B is byte)
1 Mbps = 128 KBps
I have an 8 Mbps comcast line so 8*128 = 1024 KBps theoretical max.

What the heck kind of connection do all you people claiming to get 1000's of KBps have? Yeesh. Certainly not cable or DSL.

My experience with Stardock download, for the past 18 months (at least), has been extremely positive : always a 750 to 825 kb/sec speed (on my cable connection), and no disconnects (or errors) whatsoever.

That is one of the many reasons I have been very happy with Stardock service -- since the GalCiv 1 beta. It is really not fun to wait hours, or to see a 90%-complete download crash : that has never happened to me with SDC.

(I'm not paid to say that, I am not friends with anybody at Stardock, and it is not my intention to become a FOB -- friend of Brad, not friend of Bill Clinton.)

Sure that wasn't 7000bytes? :p

7000 KB/sec is achieved by a secret military computer-network. It's called Skynet.

Hmmm... budget cutbacks have resulted in 28.8kbps modems as standard issue.
SOrry.

In all seriousness... holy crap. Good job Stardock, i've been pretty happy regarding downloading the game.

Heh.  Well, the thing about digital distribution is that it's gotta be fast or why bother?

Based on feedback, it was definitely worth leasing high performance bandwidth.
