Digital download questions

I'm about to pull the trigger on the download version, but only if Stardock's digital download is a lot better than previous ones I've seen.

1. Are the digital and boxed versions identical? I won't tolerate incompatibilities or delays of any kind when it comes to patches or mods.

2. Can I boot up the game directly or does it go through a frontend like Steam games first where it phones home and does things like install the latest patch whether I wanted it or not?

3. Can I burn the download version to a DVD that I can then install and play from without having to connect to the Internet first?

I'm thinking of getting this game via download tonight instead of waiting for it to come to stores, but all three of these issues are potential dealbreakers.

1. Yes.

2. SDC is used to install and update only. It does not remain resident and can in fact even be uninstalled and the game won't care.

3. You can archive via SDC, but if you install it elsewhere from the archive it will need a one-time-per-install activation (which can be done via removable media and email on another machine if need be). If you are online when you install (from archive or download) the activation is handled transparently. Internet is not needed to play single or LAN.

Sweet. You just sold me a copy! :)

I made the mistake of using different e-mail addresses for Stardock Store and Stardock Central, though. What's the easiest way to fix it?

I just bought a copy as well. I am a long time Stardock customer and love playing GalCiv games.

You wont be dissapointed and the cool part is that years from now, you can still download Sins and play anytime you want.

Stardock lets you download games that you have purchased forever.

If you bought the game on a different address from your SDC/forum account, you'll need to request a merge from [email protected].

Looks like all I had to do was create a new SDC account using the same e-mail. Works fine now.
