Does the AI in the game fight its self. Every game I start the computer always teams up on me. Half the time when I jump into an enemy base all three of there are sat there having a chat waiting from me. Has anyone seen the AI attacking each others base?

yep , but if you are doing better than both AI opponents they will make an alliance and fight against you , unless you lock teams

Yep. Take advantage of the opportunities some AIs give you to enhance relations (the missions) if you don't want to be the biggest threat they see (and be treated accordingly).
