Is this game 2d or 3d?

In terms of ship movement, is it 2d like Gal civ 2, or 3d like the homeworld series?

It has full 3d movement implemented. Ships are smart enough to use it when they need it, and if you feel so inclined you can order ships around on the z-axis as well.

The game does not force you to use it in the same way that Homeworld did, so most people will find they don't really need it, but the option is there nontheless :)
