Beginning tutorial (gameplay basics) not working

Hello all,

I've been following this game for months and purchased it online tonight. After the install, when I go to the Tutorials and select the first one, it brings up a planetary system and starts the game, but nothing happens... when I select other tutorials, there's at least some text on the bottom of the screen for you to follow, but the very first tutorial there is nothing. The music just loops and there's a couple of ships moving around and that's it. I have full control of the cursor/interface, but there's no guidance as one would expect from a tutorial.

That's a known issue and slated to be resolved in the 1.02 patch either late this week or early next :)

For now you can try a small map with an easy AI, or ask around/watch Multianna's gameplay video.

Change your resolution to 1024x768 (or thereabouts) and I believe this resolves it until the patch is released.

That was one of the proposed workarounds, along with trying to restart it until it works - but the devs later discounted those as not guaranteed to work.

True enough, though, trying either wouldn't hurt :)

Wow, thanks for the quick replies everyone! I'm perusing the pdf manual now and will try your recommendations after I glance through it. I'm very much excited about this release. I've been looking for a game like this since oh, MOO 2 ? :)

wow-- the first thing you do when in game is try the first tutorial and it doesnt even work?-- so much for making sure the game works right from the start-- eh ironclad?

Hi all,

I had the exact same issue. When i turned down the rez it worked fine. I guess it's fine for just that tutorial and then you can bump it back up after the tutorial.

I didnt even turn down the rez. I was confused at first, but when i exited out of the map, then retried the tutorial, started perfectly.
