i've also got the achievement, i explored a captured pirate base and found space ponies, in the same way you find penal colonies etc, so thats how you get them, but does anyone know what they do?

Spacepony is a planet bonus that means you must do exploration to get it.

For those who can't wait to get it they should mod a planet*.entity and add PlanetBonusSpacePony as a required bonus so you will get space pony every time you colonize of those planets.

Yesh, I kind pissed of, I was hopeing Space Pony fly in space and turn everything in flower, tree, sunny, pink bunny in thier path.

Here is the info I found after I recieved space ponies.

Settings:
random- small map
Vasari vs TEC
Pirates off

Planet: Aegina
Type: Desert Planet
1 metal asteroid
1 crystal asteroid

It doesnt do anything. There's no specific way or requirments for the planetary bonus to show up. Its just completely random. If you're just dying toget it however, download the Diplomacy Forge and add it to a planet through that. I would however be interested in what the original joke was behind it though, if anyone knows...
