Beyond Human

I researched the "final frontier". My robot then told me that my people were "being prepared". So I've waited a little more than 20 turns, yet nothing has happened. Could it be that I turned my research spending all the way down? Do I need to do something else?

Maybe try 4 more turns- does it take 2 years- some victories must be maintained for 2 years before you get them.

I shall try, but of course the situation is more complex. Since I poured money into research I lived off of money that I got by selling technology and star systems to rich races. But the Torians, Drengin, and Arceans are all wiped out. The Yor are my allies, but they're at war with the Altarians. I have just a few planets, but I use my terror stars and excalibers to full advantage. However, me senate has drawen me into this war before and I believe they will do it again. I need the money i get from the altarians to maintain my way of life, the Yor are too much in debt to pay me anything. So I'm preparing ahead of time, one word, blitzkreg. I'll take as many star systems as I can, destroy a few and quickly bargain for a peace treaty, then sell as many star systems back to them as I can.

Well when I got the Final Frontier tech, I just had to click end turn, and the victory screen started. By the way, have you researched all the other techs in the game? I'm not sure if it has an effect, but when I had completed the Final Frontier tech, I had also finished researching all the other techs as well...

With me, it was 3-4 turns after finishing research on Final Frontier, but it was also my last tech cause I wanted my empire to be all-powerful before we became energy beings. :)

No, lol, I still have to research Nano Rifts, which the clock on it currently says 1000 months because I took all my research spending away. For those interested in the first 4 months of my war a little over 250 billion citizens died. I captured or demolished 50% of the altarian's star systems (who by the way had about 3 times as many stars as I did). The Yor were drowning but then I built them 7 Excaliber-class starships, now they are beginng to hold their own, however I doubt they will be able to bonce back until I can come down there myself with some sireous firepower. I have not lost a star system yet, however countless sensor drones have been lost. The battle plan is working, for now, but my leases are eating my alive, I have enough money saved up to survive for awhile but no matter what I set my taxes or government spending to I still lose money. I hope to end this game either by finally "transcending humanity" or building enough terror stars to wipe out the altarians.

Try making and selling useless ships. Maybe start with scouts or sensor drones. In my last game (Cakewalk level), the Yor were fighting the Caranoids, and I was selling ships to both sides. I might sell an overlord to one, and 2 AM missiles to another. I started with scouts, then star fighters, then just set 3 planets to big ticket items while using sales to fund my research. Worked great. Research all techs, that is what I did and I transcended one turn later.

I belive you must research all techs before it can end in a Tech victory, th Final Frontier is more a "And here it ends" tech :)

By the way, in case I have to play another whole game to find out, what does happen when you transcend. The whole "God Mode" thing they talked about really got my hopes up.

Nidaros: No, you don't have to research every last tech in order to get to Final Frontier. You just have to research a certain series of techs. I won't list them all here, but it's easy enough to figure the sequence out for yourself: Just examine the tech tree, starting at Final Frontier and working your way backward through its pre-requisites, and all their pre-requisites, and so forth. The entire sequence is only roughly 20-25% of all the techs in the game (although you probably will need to research some of the other techs in order to build up your economy, defenses, etc.)

vex442003: SPOILER WARNING... Once you complete Final Frontier, end the turn and you are treated to a cutscene in which two of your ships confront a Drengin fleet, then morph into luminous beings which generate a shockwave that wipes out the entire Drengin fleet.
