Colonizing Planets

Ok this game is giving me fits. I have sent my colony ship to empty planets and it gives me the choice of renaming the sytem all those planets belong too, but after that nothing. No population no symbol stating I took it over, Next thing I know I have the Altereans (sp? the other human like race, I dont remember since I renamed them) and they have placed there symbol over the planets. WTH is up I send my colony ship and I get to rename the pllanet that they wind up taking over in the near future. Nothing in the manual tells me with the exception of right click on planet to colonize and nothing happens, some help is appreciated

After you're asked to enter the name of the system, you have to select which planet in that system you want to colonize by left-clicking on it.

Thanks Asharak I actually just wound up stumbling across that by accident, I was getting a little frustrated just dont want to get burned like I did with MOO3 if you know what I mean
