Game crashes in artifact research screen

The game locks up when I enter the artifact tab of the research window. Every time.
The window displays ok, then stops the PC. No cursor, no response but music still plays in the background. Ctrl+alt+del doesn't work either, forced to power off.

Has anyone else seen this? Please tell me there's an easy fix, I really like everything else about the game so far.

If I open the research, menu or pirate screen I run the chance of the game crashing. Crash happens at complete random. I've turned everything down to low and have it running in a window but haven't gotten it working.

First - make sure your video and audio drivers are up-to-date. If your drivers are older than 1 year, that could be the cause.

Otherwise -

Please be sure to send in the minidump files from these crashes if they're generated:

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\Sins Dump

Vista: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Sins Dump

Zip them up along with a description of what causes them and mail them to [email protected].

I've just updated my drivers and tried again. Same problem.
No minidump files are being created in the listed folders.

Pity. Could have been a good game.

Did you update them correctly? A lot of people forget to disable antivirus / firewalls, and those can interfere with driver installs. If your having trouble, try the following:

Boot into safe mode, uninstall the drivers.
Reboot into safe mode, use driver cleaner to get rid of all traces of them (optional -- only really needed if you've changed from an ATi card to a NVidia card at some point in the past)
Reboot into safe mode, and install the new drivers.
