How to jump to any system after you've researched it? (TEC)

Maybe i missed this somewhere, but I researched the ability the TEC has to jump from one system to another, how do I do this after that?

If I take a ship and tell it to go to a further planet it will still go to the adjacent one, etc to get there instead of just straight to the planet I told it to which is what the research ability is supposed to allow...

Are you talking about Long Range Jumps? If so, that's to go from a star to another star. There's no way to skip going across phase lanes with normal travel (except for some Vasari toys).

I had this issue as well. Just select your ship or fleet, and click on the star you wish to travel to. The ships will go to the star's gravity well then jump from there to the selected star. You cant see any phase lanes though, they seem to be invisible.

Stars aren't connected by phase lanes, and you can only jump from Star to Star - can't go from planet to star :P
