Where do construction frigates come from?

Devs and Forum!

Good Morning,

I'm a noob at playing SOASE so please forgive the stupidity of the question. But, just where do construction frigates come from? Do they simply appear associated with a planet (as they do at the start of a game)? Is there a way to replace destroyed CFs? I didn't notice that any of the construction yards had the ability to produce them and construction frigates don't seem to able to build construction frigates...so...

If they do just spontaneosly appear - are they automatically replaced when destroyed depending on the health of the local planetary economy? If they do arise out of nothing and accounting sheets - shouldn't more construction frigates appear as you upgrade a given planet's logistics?

Oh - and one leetle niggling suggestion: be nice if the tutorials were narrated.

Thanks for producing a smoothly running great space game!!!

Yes, construction frigates are auto-built by the planets themselves, and are replaced after a period of time if they are destroyed.

You start with one when you create a colony, and upgrading logistic/tactical slots for the planet gives more (up to a max of 4).

The developers will tell you when you're older... let's just pretend a stork drops them off for now.

Annatar is right, though I think it might only be tactical slot upgrades, one per upgrade. I might be wrong about that. I think it's about a minute to replace.

play the tutorial and it tells you. i think you get one per each infrastructure upgrade

Thanks for the reply and and cluing me in. Kind of different from most RTS games where engineers (construction units) are produced just like other kinds of units.

I probably zoned out during the tutorial where this was covered - distracted by the purty visuals.

Hehe ohh so easy to do in this game. Wait till you get your empire to a more or less self-sustaining point. You'll probably do like I do and sit there watching battles just because you can.

Your construction frigate cap in a system is determined by your level of tactical and logistical infrastructure on the planet. If dead, one will be replaced in 30 seconds (I'm not quite sure why it doesn't come from the planet, it just appears randomly in the gravity well). If you're in combat (I don't know what defines this, probably bombardment) then it takes 300 seconds to replace.
