Tribute Information Suggestion

I just wanted to throw out a suggestion that it would be cool if somewhere (on the Domestic policy screen, somewhere, perhaps) we could find a detailed breakdown of exactly how much Tribute we're receiving from each alien race, in addition to the total amount per turn.

Something like:
Drengin 10bc/turn - 20/50 turns
Altarian 50bc/turn - 5/15 turns

Those latter numbers would tell you "what turn of the agreement you're on/how many turns the agreement was for."

The main use of this, to my mind, would be so I know just how much tribute I'm getting from a particular empire if I'm considering going to them to ask for more tribute. I've had games where I was bringing in a combined 500 bc/turn between 3 different empires. Then, a turn later, I'm down to 400 bc/turn. Obviously I know one of my tribute agreements just expired. But I really don't know with which race. Now, I want to try and get that amount (or more) in tribute going again, but I don't know which race to approach for a new deal. Certainly, I'd hate to go to the Altarians and ask them for more money per turn if they're already paying me 200 bc/turn.

So, someway to know exactly where your tribute is coming from and even when it's about to expire would be very handy. I should note, btw, that to set these tribute agreements up, I tend to trade technology (probably a lot more tech than I was able to get away with before the recent updates). I certainly haven't been using any deliberate exploits, but simply trying to find a way to bring a good positive cash flow into my empire so I can keep my spending maxxed out.

This is an EXCELLENT idea! Listing what your spending on Tribute and what you're reciving would be very cool if possible.

What would happen if you got more tribute from the same civ before the first one ran out?

Nothing necessarily bad, I don't think. Mostly I just didn't want to try as:

A) I didn't think they'd be very likely to agree to another tribute while still paying me on the first one
B) I didn't want to overtax a friendly race's economy by asking him to pay me more than I thought he could handle. I always look at how much they have in the bank before I ask for an amount so I have a good idea that they can easily afford to pay what I ask for.

it would jsut get added to you list. I imagine you could scroll through each limited field to display the entire list. So you have two lists really: outgoing, incoming. each could display 10 at a time- scroll down for more. It could breack off of the STATS part of your empire view. Maybe a button up top where the four different buttons are for, uh...um... budget, uh, and the other three things, can't remember.

Oh, you can lease the hell out of your techs. I generally have 5+ tributes going from any one race near the beginning of the game (with research up high, and 20 month terms). I can keep a steady stream of income until the race goes bankrupt. It's not a bad strategy in and of itself, because broke races don't buy many ships.

One thing I'm not sure of is what happens to the tribute when they run out of money (i.e. get to -500). I haven't set up the scenario to see if they default on the loan or what. It's not as ludicrous as it sounds--a decent tech will net you 35x20 at normal level, and they only have to have 1bc in the bank to agree to that.

I am all for more listing of stuff like this. I would like there to be drill down options for the economy tab and for the stats tab so that you could see what exactly is counting against your leases, towards your tribute, what makes up your bonus %s, etc.
